Bulk action editing in Moodle
- configuring availability and access settings
- duplicating
- deleting
- moving items to a different location within the subject site
Why
Bulk actions in Moodle reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks by enabling edits to multiple items simultaneously, rather than adjusting each activity or section individually. This helps maintain consistent scaffolding, sequencing, availability settings and a clearer overall organisation throughout a subject site.
For example, an educator who has completed their preparation for one Module can use bulk actions to replicate required activities, resources, and text and media areas to serve as templates for later modules. The educator can use bulk availability settings to hide them from students until revisions are complete.
By simplifying routine administrative tasks, bulk actions free up time for educators to focus on higher-value aspects of learning and teaching, such as refining content, providing feedback or supporting students directly. Bulk editing tools also help ensure that changes can be made quickly and accurately, reducing the likelihood of errors and contributing to a more accessible and well-organised learning environment.
